Terms of Service
Draft, under legal review
Trust Engine lets one person ask another to confirm their identity. The person asked always chooses whether to take part. These terms are a summary of the draft under review and will be replaced by the final version before launch.
Who can use it
You must be 18 or older and in the United States.
What a result means
A completed check confirms that someone holds a valid ID in that name and that their selfie matched the ID photo, as reported by our identity provider, Didit, at that moment. It is not a background, criminal, credit, employment or tenant check, and not a guarantee of anyone's safety, honesty or character.
What you may not use it for
- Deciding on employment, housing, credit, insurance, or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Trust Engine is not a consumer reporting agency.
- Pressuring, harassing or tricking anyone into a check.
- Checking someone you aren't genuinely about to deal with.
- Sharing, selling or reusing a result for any other purpose.
Price and refunds
The price depends on the check you choose and is shown before you pay (From $3.00 per check today). You pay before the link is sent, and the price you saw is the price you pay. You get an automatic refund if the other person declines or never starts the ID check before the link expires (7 days). There is no refund once the ID check has started, whatever the outcome.
No warranty
The service is provided as is. Our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the check in question, to the extent the law allows.
